Africa Our Home’s mission is to support development in Togo and in Ghana; to promote friendship and partnership between Africa and the Rest of the world; through inclusive global service programs, capacity building, technology and environmental stewardship.
A prosperous and connected Africa, fulfilling potentials hand in hand with educated and compassionate global citizens.
AOH is a partnership oriented social-enterprise that promotes global development and cross-cultural exchange. From our Head Office in Lomé, Togo we develop products and services for two markets: Africa and the Rest. Within Africa we provide capacity building tools for small to medium enterprises and individuals including: English courses and affordable mini websites. We also lead small-scale development projects, e.g. reforestation and public health education around water, sanitation and hygiene. For the Rest, we’ve built multi-stakeholder partnerships in Ghana and in Togo to implement our Global Service Programs: ProWorld Ghana and Discover-Togo; providers of customized group programs and individual internships.
AOH Global Programs: ProWorld Ghana and Discover-Togo offer customized university faculty-led groups; as well as individual internship programs. You work on an AOH internal initiative or through our network of partners. Fields include: education, health, business, community development, the environment and more. Volunteer service programs for student-led groups, friends, co-workers, etc are also available. We offer short-term and long-term programs from 2-weeks to 6-months in duration and facilitate all in-country logistics from project placements to housing.
AOH has initiated a variety of projects towards fulfilling our social mission and business related goals. All of our projects are open to partnerships with like-minded individuals and businesses around the globe.
From satisfying corporate social responsibility through our teak tree planting project Link2Grow; supporting girls education through our Menstrual Hygiene Management education project; or honing your teaching skills as a part of our English as Second Language (ESL) courses; there is room for anyone to get involved and make an impact.
Hopeful, inclusive and big-hearted, the founders of Africa Our Home intend to bridge cultures, support African development and cultivate lasting trusting partnerships between Africa and the Rest of the world.
Our Global Programs are based on a theory of change that seeks to demystify Africa and that ensures our service-oriented programs are implemented in astute cultural awareness cognizant that poorly designed study abroad or “volun-tourism” programs to Africa could do more harm than good.
